And the Special School Districts Furor Is About What, Again?

August 24, 2012

Whose interests are being looked after in all the hullabaloo embroiling the U.S. District Court, the Tennessee General Assembly, the county’s various municipal governments, the  Shelby County unified school district, the  Shelby County Commission, and the taxpayers?

Where are the children in all of this?

It’s a fair bet that everyone who lives in Greater Memphis has a deep stake in seeing that every single child who goes to school within Shelby County receives all the benefits possible from our educational system.

After all, these children will take care of us when we’re old – or not.

These same children will either grow up and be wise, productive citizens

– or not.

These children will help build a community that is vibrant and financially secure – or not.

These children will see their best interests lie in being law-abiding citizens who seek the common good

– or not.

So, please tell me where the children are in all of these controversies. Please tell me!

Hello Eddie. We met at the Toastmasters conference in Memphis a few months ago. I’ve been getting updates on your blog and thought I would invite you to follow mine. It’s I’m also on Facebook. Thanks!
